Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani on Monday hinted at the possibility of a tie-up with India’s leading telco Bharti Airtel for giving a boost to the 4G LTE services in Punjab.
The two companies also announced their separate plans of investing a total of Rs 6,500 crore on digital infrastructure for 4G telecom services in the state.
Terming the people of Punjab as the brand ambassadors of India, Ambani said that Reliance will invest Rs 2,500 crore in rolling out its first digital infrastructure for 4G in Punjab.
He said that for this initiative both the company can have a collaborative partnership in the state.
Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel on Monday announced that it would invest Rs 4,000 crore over next five years for 4G services in Punjab. It is a leading player in GSM mobile services in Punjab.
RIL, a new entrant in 4G services, is likely to launch its 4G services in Punjab by March, 2014. RIL has spectrum and licence for pan India 4G services.
Airtel will also lay an additional 10,000 km of optic fiber and expand its 4G LTE services to all towns and villages across the state.
Earlier in April both the company signed an agreement to share capacity of a submarine cable. |
