The controversial JPC report on 2G spectrum scam which was tabled in the Rajya Sabha amid uproarious scenes was called “fraud” and "bundle of contradictions" by the opposition. The report has given a clean chit to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
The report was tabled in the upper house by Congress member Ananda Bhaskar Rapolu. Earlier Deputy Chairman P J Kurien ruled that the Terms of Reference contained in the motion of the JPC had no provision which permits a discussion on its report adopted duly by the committee.
The report was tabled in the Lok Sabha on Monday by JPC Chairperson P C Chacko. Here too Speaker Meira Kumar did not permit discussion at the presentation stage during Zero Hour.
Members belonging to of BJP, Left, TMC and other parties opposed the tabling of the report. Raising a point of order deputy Leader of BJP Ravishankar Prasad said tha, this dissent note had been altered and wondered whether the matter should not be debated in the House.
BJP on Tuesday called the report a "fraud" and an attempt in hiding the truth with Ravishankar Prasad objecting to the way the JPC report was tabled in Lok Sabha.
“It is a fraud report. After all the documents, attempts have been made to bury the truth", he said. |
