Trai seeks views on valuation, price of 800-MHz spectrum
TT Correspondent |  |  31 Dec 2013

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) on Monday issued a consultation paper on valuation and reserve price of the 800-MHz spectrum band, currently used by CDMA operators.

"DoT requested the authority to furnish their recommendations on reserve price for 800MHz (CDMA) band in all service areas. In this context, Trai has issued a consultation paper, raising specific issues for consideration of stakeholders," it said.

Comments can be submitted by January 15 and counter comments by January 22.

Trai had earlier said that there should not be any auction for CDMA players, but DoT and the Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) had asked it to work out a pricing.

“On December 12, 2013, DoT requested the authority to furnish their recommendations on the reserve price for the 800-MHz (CDMA) band in all service areas... In this context, Trai has issued consultation paper, raising specific issues for consideration of stakeholders,” Trai said in a statement.

Interested entities can give their comments on the consultation paper by January 15and counter comments by January 22, it said.
