India’s mobile subscriber base increases to 881.13 million

The mobile subscriber base grew from 875.48 million in October, 2013 to 881.13 million at the end of November 2013, registering a monthly growth of 0.65%, according to the latest date released by the regulator TRAI.
 
The share of urban wireless subscribers has declined from59.65% to 59.45% whereas share of rural wireless subscribers has increased from 40.35% to 40.55%.The overall wireless Teledensity in India has reached to71.34 from70.96 of previous month.
 
Over all the number of telephone subscribers in India increased from 904.56 million at the end of October, 2013 to 910.14 million at the end of November, 2013, thereby showing a monthly growth of 0.62%.
 
The share of urban subscribers has declined from 60.26% to 60.06% where as share of rural subscribers has increased from 39.74% to 39.94% in the month of November 2013. With this, the overall Tele-density in India increased from 73.32 at the end of October, 2013 to 73.69 at the end of November, 2013.

Bharti Airtel is leading the pack 22.31% market share, followed by Vodafone India (17.94%) and Idea Cellular (14.57%). Airtel has 19.65 crore at the end of November 30. It added 17.22 lakh users during the month while Vodafone added 13.39 lakh new subscribers taking its user base to 15.80 crore.
 
Idea Cellular’s subscriber base stood at 12.84 crore with 36,219 new users. Reliance Communications added 3.03 lakh subscribers to take its base to 11.70 crore.
 
Aircel added 15.40 lakh users and its subscriber base stood at 6.52 crore, whereas Uninor added 36,089 new users to take its base to 3.23 crore.
 
CDMA operator Sistema Shyam Teleservices added 15,403 users and its base stood at 95.87 lakh.
 
Videocon also added 1.85 lakh users to take its base to 36.70 lakh. State run BSNL and MTNL added 4.36 lakh and 5,579 new users and their user base stood at 9.83 crore and 35.81 lakh, respectively.

As per the data reported by the service providers, by the end of November2013 about 106.87 million subscribers have submitted their requests to different service providers for porting their mobile number.

In MNP Zone-I (Northern & Western India) maximum number of requests have been received in Rajasthan (about 10.67 million) followed by Gujarat(about 9.24million)whereas in MNP Zone-II (Southern & Eastern) maximum number of request shave been received in Karnataka (about 12.29 million) followed by Andhra Pradesh Service area (about 9.77 million).

In the month of November 2013, total number of subscribers who have submitted their request for MNP is 2.09 million.
