Telecom companies continue to bid aggressively in this round of spectrum auction for 1800 Mhz band with the bidding touching Rs 61,093.83 crore at the end of day 9 on Wednesday after 63 rounds.
“At the end of day nine sixty three rounds of bidding have been completed. Bids have been received in all 22 Service Areas in 1800 MHz band and in all 3 Service Areas in 900 MHz band. Thus, bidding has taken place in all the Service Areas in both bands” said an official statement.
Telecom Secretary MF Farooqui said that the government received total bids worth Rs 61,091.83 crore, which is about 27 per cent more than the spectrum value at the base.
Spectrum price in Assam increased 5 times of its base price at the end of 9th day of auction rounds at Rs 34.75 crore per megahertz.
In Madhya Pradesh, price for 1800 Mhz band increased by 17 per cent and in Mumbai it was up by 31 per cent compared to base price. Upfront payment from this auction till date now stands at Rs 18,273 crore.
Other circles which have witnessed increase in prices are Maharashtra (67.8 per cent), Delhi (66.2 per cent), Gujrat (66.2 per cent), UP-west (53.1 per cent), Mumbai (31.4 per cent), Madhya Pradesh (17.2 per cent), West Bengal (17.1 per cent), Bihar (16.4 per cent), UP-east (4.9 per cent) as compared with the original reserve price that the Government had set. |
