Motorola to shift focus from low-cost to mid-range handsets in India
TT Bureau |  |  16 May 2008

Motorola now is turning its focus from low-cost handsets to multimedia capable phones for the Indian market.

Earlier Motorola laid emphasis on low-cost handsets for rural areas and had signed up to GSM Association’s low cost handset project but did not get a favorable response from the consumers.

Malcolm Dawe, vice president and General Manager, Motorola Mobile Devices stated that now the company is not only focusing on low-cost handsets for rural areas but als on multimedia handsets as the demand of multimedia devices in such areas is increasing.

The company also plans to come up with NFC enabled phones in the future.
