Google has started rolling out Google Now notifications on desktop and laptop computers from today. Until now, it was available for Android smartphones.
The users of Google Now’s Android and iOS apps can now experience the intuitive personal assistant’s context based notifications from their desktop when using chrome. Those who don’t want to use Google Now on desktop but remain signed-in, can turn it off by clicking the bell icon on the lower right corner of the screen for PCs, or upper right corner for Mac and uncheck Google Now within the settings.
Earlier last month Google had disclosed plans to bring Google Now to desktop.
"Starting today and rolling out over the next few weeks, Google Now notifications will be available to Chrome users on their desktop or laptop computers. To enable this feature, simply sign in to Chrome with the same Google Account you're using for Google Now on Android or iOS”: said the company in a statement on Google Chrome Google+ account.
Google Now uses location information on a smartphone to serve relevant information. For PC and Mac users, the location information will be determined through a user's smartphone.
All the notifications will come in the form of Google Now Cards, and the topics will include weather updates, sports news, scores, traffic alerts and even reminders for certain upcoming events .
It will currently be available only in English, but Google has plans to add some other languages soon. |
