Samsung Electronics organised a consumer event in Bengaluru on Thursday, where Ace choreographer, Prasad Bidappa showcased the innovative Galaxy S5 and new Gear series to Samsung customers in India. Galaxy S5 will be available in India through Samsung's retail stores and e-commerce portals from 11 April, 2014. The phone is priced on the Samsung India eStore at Rs. 51,500, whereas Flipkart at Rs. 53,499. The Smartphone first showcased by the company at this year’s MWC 2014 in Barcelona. The phone will be available in 4 colours: black, white, blue and golden-copper.
But the pre-order have already started from March 29.
Samsung Galaxy S5 comes up with limited free subscriptions to various premium services, paid apps, and cloud storage accounts. The Galaxy S5 includes freebies for cloud computing apps, news apps and fitness-centric apps for their health focused Galaxy S5 with heart rate monitor.
Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with a 5.1 inch touch screen with full HD display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution. This Super AMOLED display has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The handset comes in 16GB version as the 32GB variant will not be revealed yet for Indian market, with microSD card expandability up to 64GB.
It is Powered by an Adonis Prime2 (Quad 1.9 GHz + Quad 1.3 GHz) and XMM6360 processor, the smartphone has many unique features including water and dust proof capability. It also comes with a huge expandable storage slot and fingerprint sensor, 2 GB RAM and It is based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat version.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 has a 16 megapixel rear camera with autofocus speed of 0.3 seconds and an advanced High Dynamic Range (HDR) mode. Besides, it can shoot 4K videos. There is a 2 megapixel front camera in Galaxy S5 as well.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 also comes with fingerprint sensor. According to Samsung, it can recognise three fingerprints and it takes eight swipes to register the same instead of holding your finger on a certain place. Besides, the nano SIM based Galaxy S5 comes with 4G compatibility; it is compatible with 1800 and 2100 MHz band of LTE - the same band the Indian operators has opted to roll out 4G services in the country.
The phone has fifth generation 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, infrared port, micro USB 3.0, USB on the go, DLNA, and WiFi Direct features. It has a 2800 mAh removable battery.
