Huawei, on Wednesday, launched its second flagship smartphone, the Ascend P7, at an event in Paris. The P7 will be available this month across Europe, Asia and the Middle East. It will not be sold in the United States. Its price around EUR 449 ($630 Rs. 37,800) without a SIM card or service contract. Orange will sell the phone in all its European stores from June 7; the P7 comes with support for LTE and a series of other refinements.
The Huawei Ascend P7 comes with 5-inch display, 1920 by 1080 pixel resolution with Corning Glass 3, runs on Android 4.4 KitKat OS. It is powered by Huawei’s proprietary Kirin 910T 1.8GHz quad-core Cortex-A9 CPU, Mali 450 GPU with 2GB RAM with company own Emotion UI 2.3 on top.
The smartphone has 16GB internal storage which is expandable up to 32GB through microSD card. It also has 8-megapixel front camera and a 13-megapixel rear camera designed for low-light conditions. The smartphone also has a dedicated image processor that is used to control functions such as autofocus, white balance and noise reduction.
The device measures 139.8 x 68.8 x 6.5mm and weighs 124 grams. For connectivity options smartphone has options like: 3G HSPA+, 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, GPS and NFC technology as well with 2,500mAh Li-Po battery.
The P7 is compatible with high-speed fourth-generation mobile networks that have been rolled out by telecom operators in much of Asia and Western Europe. China and parts of Latin America are building such 4G networks, which allow for at least five times faster web surfing, this year and next, Reports, Reutrers.
The company aims to sell 10 million phones by early next year, compared with 4 million sold to date for the P6. To that end, it plans to spend $300 million on global marketing this year to improve its brand image.
