Sony has launched its much awaited, 2014 flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z2, in India at Rs. 49,990 and will be available in India starting May 12. Sony is also bundling 6 free HD movies for download, one full-HD cricket game, and 3 months Bigflix subscription. Sony has also launched the fitness-centric SmartBand. The SmartBand, priced at Rs 5,990, will come bundled with the device and back cover worth Rs 2,990 with the smartphone, absolutely free with the smartphone.
The Xperia Z2 is the successor of Xperia Z1. Sony already announced the Xperia Z2 flagship smartphone at MWC 2014. But the device launched does not support India's 4G/ LTE bands.
The Sony Xperia Z2 comes with 5.2-inch (1080x1920 pixels) Triluminos display with X-Reality engine, runs on Android 4.4. KitKat OS. It is powered by 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 (MSM8974AB) processor with an Adreno 330 GPU with 3GB RAM.
The Sony Xperia Z2 also has 16GB inbuilt storage which can be expandable up to 64GB, 20.7-megapixel back camera with Exmor RS sensor, capable of 4K Ultra-HD video recording and 2.2-megapixel, front camera as well. It is also loaded with Xperia camera apps such as Timeshift video, Creative effect, and AR effect. The new Background defocus camera app simulates a shallow depth of field. Capture two photos at different focus settings and blend together the different depths, leading to a blurred out background for more professional looking photos.
For Connectivity options smartphone has 4G LTE, HSPA+, Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi hotspot functionality, DLNA, GPS with A-GPS, Bluetooth v4.0, NFC, FM radio with RDS, and a 3.5mm audio jack with 3000mAh battery, which can deliver up to 830 hours of talk time, standby time of 880 hours, continuous music playback time of 110 hours.
