In a letter to DoT, Reliance Jio and Infotel Telecom said that the latter had moved the Mumbai High Court in February seeking approval to merge with the holding company. It is therefore proposed to consolidate Infotel Telecom Ltd and RJIL into a single company through the process of amalgamation, Reports, PTI.
RJIL has requested DoT for completing security process after which the gateway can be made operational. The security process includes setting up of Internet interception and monitoring system and its successful access to government security agencies under Ministry of Home Affairs.
Infotel Telecom owns licences to offer national long distance (NLD) and international long distance (ILD) services, while Jio has licences to offer high speed data and voice services across India through airwaves in the 2300 Mhz band.
Amalgamation of companies is in compliance with DoT guidelines for transfer and merger of various categories of telecommunication service licenses.
By merging both entities, Jio will comply with the unified licence, under which all telephony and data services can be offered under a single permit. |
