F-Secure, Telecom Italia partner to protect consumers multi-device lives
TT Correspondent |  |  04 Jun 2014

F-Secure has partnered with Telecom Italia, to offer multi-device security to all Telecom Italia’s consumer mobile customers. The new service, called TIMProtect, provides comprehensive protection while browsing and banking on computers and mobile devices. It also ensures safe browsing for children and protects mobile devices in case of loss or theft.

TIMProtect offers a complete range of security services through advanced technology and responds in real-time to online threats. It offers the ultimate protection against viruses, spyware, hacker attacks, and identity theft, while also blocking harmful web sites and online attacks when browsing the web.

“Operators need to move fast to serve the changing needs of the customers. Thanks to the partnership with F-Secure, we can let our customers safely manage their smartphones and easily protect their children, guaranteeing secure access to all the services”, said Antonio Andrea Vaccarelli, responsible for Device and Service Development at Telecom Italia.

“Online security isn’t just about protecting the home computer anymore. Security needs to be flexible to adapt to people’s changing device needs. With our record of providing world-class security services, we are honored to partner with Telecom Italia to meet their customers’ needs and to promote digital freedom via a safe Internet to their customers”, said Samu Konttinen, Executive Vice President, Consumer Security at F-Secure.

The partnership is a reflection of consumers’ multi-device lives. 89% of consumers use Windows computers, 16% Apple computers, 39% Android smartphones, and 22% Android tablets. And according to F-Secure Labs, malware is continuing to evolve into ever more sophisticated forms, both on mobile devices and on computers. Mobile malware commonly attempts to profit on the backs of users by sending SMS messages to premium numbers or by diverting banking-related SMS messages.
