Nokia, on Thursday said it has completed the acquisition of the Australian company Mesaplexx Pty Ltd in order to boost its radio capabilities in the networks business. Nokia is continually improving its radio systems whilst making them smaller, lighter and more efficient, Reports, PTI.
The strategic investment is aimed at offering better mobile broadband experience to its telecom customers.
Mesaplexx specializes in advanced radio frequency (RF) filters, a technology used in every base station. RF filters help reduce transmit and receive noise at the base station, ensuring that spectrum can be shared within the same area and that the same antenna can serve to send and receive signals.
“The Mesaplexx expertise could help improve radio performance, leading to higher capacity and more efficient networks. This technology would also help reduce overall cost and power consumption and keep radio signal loss to a minimum,” Nokia said.
“Those familiar with radio technologies know that while there has been a lot of progress in recent years, filters are one area where new innovations can still yield significant improvements in performance,” Mobile Broadband at Nokia Executive Vice President Marc Rouanne said.
Both the companies did not disclose any financial details of the takeover. |
