  Smartphone giant Samsung, on Friday has launched the 4G LTE-variant the Galaxy S5 smartphone in India for Rs. 53,500. It will be available in the Indian markets from July 20, i.e. tomorrow. Samsung’s flagship smartphone Galaxy S5 was launched in India in April for Rs. 51,500.
"We are excited to introduce our first 4G variant of the Galaxy S5 in India with a powerful processor, stunning display and faster connectivity for an unmatched user experience. We expect the 4G version to catch the imagination of technology enthusiasts and professionals, who demand superior smartphones for their heavy multimedia content consumption," said Asim Warsi, Vice President (Marketing, Mobile & IT), Samsung India.
Along with the Galaxy S5 4G model, Samsung and Airtel have also tie-up and are making a special data offer to Samsung Galaxy S5 4G customers. All existing and new Airtel 4G subscribers will get 5GB of 4G data/month free for two months, a statement said.
All the hardware and technical specifications are almost same to this new variant, except its 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 processor, and it supports eight 4G LTE bands. Samsung is also boasting Galaxy S5 4G variant has a bouquet of other features such as download booster and Wi-Fi MIMO.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 features a 5.1 inch Super AMOLED display with 1080 x 1920 pixel full-HD resolution and runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS with 2 GB RAM. It is available in 16 GB and 32 GB variants, with microSD card expandability up to 64 GB. The Samsung Galaxy S5 sports a 16 megapixel rear camera with HDR (for video as well), and a 2.1 megapixel front-facing camera.
The biggest new features being touted on the Galaxy S5 by Samsung include a fingerprint scanner on the home button, a heart rate sensor placed near the 16-megapixel camera, and the IP67 certification that makes it dust and water-resistant. |
