As you sow so shall you reap. With Indian investigating agency naming Malaysia’s controversial businessman T. Ananda Krishnan in a serious corruption case relating to acquisition of an Indian telco through coercion, the Malaysian tycoon is under tremendous pressure now. He may soon get extradition notice from Indian agencies.
A report in Malaysian News Review Magazine blames Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the case against the controversial Malysian Tycoon. "Ananda Krishnan and his business entities are collateral damage in a big power-play in India’s industrial Tamil Nadu state, involving the powerful tag team of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa Jayaram, which is determined to undercut the popularity of Dayanidhi Maran’s Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party,” says the report which is biased in favour of Krishnan.
Naturally, such silly arguments can only be given by an accused when he knows that there is no justification for his actions. Ignorant writers do not attempt to do any research before writing such stories. They should know that DMK was routed in the recent Lok Sabha elections, in May, when DMK was in power in India (it was a member of UPA). The charge sheet against Krishnan was filed three months after the DMK lost elections.

Maran, who is accused of partnering with Krishnan by CBI in the crime also lost elections.
In this article, desperation of Krishnan is shown as his also blame Indian bureaucracy for the alleged crime he has committed.
The report blames everyone under the Sun for wrongs committed by Krishnan. “This whole mess is a case of dealing with a wrong person from the start, and a series of unconnected events which got us caught up in the country’s politics,” one senior Malaysian financial executive, said to be deeply involved in the tycoon's ventures in India,” was quoted as saying.
There are factual mistakes in the article. It says “In October 2011, Sivasankaran initiated a formal investigation against the Maran brothers and Ananda.”. The fact is that the case was investigated by Indian investigating agency CBI and Sivasankaran is only a witness in the case. The case brought under 2G scam by India’s eminent civil right activist and lawyer Prashant Bhushan.
This investigation was held under the supervision of the Supreme Court, thanks to Bhushan’s efforts. Any attempt to attribute motives to the investigations may be Contempt of Court. India has highly reputed and robust legal system.

The report also says that Ananda and his associates would fight against any attempt to extradite them. They are currently appealing to the government for assurances that Putrajaya will refuse any request for extradition.
"Financial executives close to the situation say that lawyers representing the tycoon have already made representations to the Malaysian government, including Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, highlighting the alleged political nature of the case against Ananda Krishnan and Marshall," the report said.
For the time being, it said, Ananda and his companies were safe as they were likely to have the support of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his administration.
Indians will not like to believe that the Malaysian Prime Minister will try to protect any person that is involved in criminal activity in a foreign country. |
