WhatsApp users on Android now can hide the 'blue ticks' with new beta version of the app
TT Correspondent |  |  17 Nov 2014

WhatsApp has unveiled the feature to hide those blue ticks in WhatsApp for Android users, and for this download the new beta version of the app and you can only get if you manually update the app via the WhatsApp website because the beta version hasn't been released on Google Play yet.

If the users turn off read receipts, you won’t be able to see read receipts from other people. Read receipts are always sent for group chats and also if you want to check when other people see your messages, then you need to allow them to see read receipts from you. For now, this is only possible for Android users.

To disable read receipts: Once the app is installed, open WhatsApp and tap three vertical dots icon on the top right. Now go to Settings > Account > Privacy and then uncheck read receipts.

When WhatsApp has introduced new read receipt feature earlier this month for Android, iOS users etc., where users can see two blue check marks in a chat that notifies a user that the recipient has read the message and at that time there was no privacy setting to disable read receipts when the feature was rolled out.
