Videocon Telecom plans to invest about Rs 1,200 crore for rolling out 4G services in three circles in the next three years. The company plans to rollout 4G services in 29 cities across Uttar Pradesh (East), Uttar Pradesh (West) and Bihar circles, Reports ET, (Economic Times).
Videocon is also looking to form ICR arrangement with other telco for 4G data, which could come as an added business line for them or/and barter for voice ICR.
"Our strategy now is to take the first mover advantage on data and do what we couldn't do on voice having missed the bus. This will also give is the distinction of being the first telco to offer 4G LTE FDD services on 1800 Mhz in the country, " Arvind Bali, Director and CEO, Videocon Telecom said.
The telco will be rolling out 6 cities in the first phase, 12 cities in the second phase and another 11 cities in the last phase, covering the key potential cities across these circles, the company said.
The telco which holds 5Mhz liberalized spectrum in the 1800 MHz band in the circles and plans to utilize the entire spectrum for rollout of 4G LTE services in select cities and offer voice on overlay network in these key cities. In remaining coverage area, the telco will offer 2G voice on own network.
The telco which has recently bagged the class A PAN India ISP license plans to prioritize its ISP roll out in these circles to offer Wi-Fi off-loading for its 4G data services. It plans to offer 4G data at 2G/3G rates to encourage early adaptation, and will be offering bundled devices as well.
For the 4G roll out, Videocon Telecom is working closely with Deloitte as their consulting partner and Huawei as their technology partner in its existing operations, Reports ET, (The Economic Times, India's largest Economic daily). |
