First Impressions: Lava Icon mid-range Android KitKat smartphone launched for Rs 11990

Lava International Limited, on Thursday announced the launch of its mid-range smartphone Icon in the Indian market for Rs. 11,990 at selected retail stores in India. Online it will be available exclusively on Snapdeal.com from 1:00 pm onwards on 9th April 2015.Snapdeal will be offering a free selfie stick to all consumers ordering from Snapdeal.com.

Lava Icon sports a 5 inch HD IPS display with full lamination further improves the viewing angles. The screen has 550 Cd/m2 brightness, which is the highest in the category. It comes with the Asahi Dragon-trail Glass that offers resistance against scratches. It is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core ARM Mali 400 MP2 processor with 2GB RAM. It runs the Android KitKat 4.4 operating system.
 
Lava Icon comes with a 13 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, SONY EXMOR sensor with 5P lens and a blue glass filter and also sports a 5 megapixel front camera with Omni Vision sensor, F2.4 aperture, 4P lens, BSI-II sensor with blue glass filter. With the F2.0 aperture in rear camera lens and F2.4 aperture in front camera lens, Icon’s camera is capable to capture 27% more light under low light conditions.  The camera lets you record and view full HD videos. Icon comes with a range of other features such as Face Detection, HDR, Panorama Mode, Smile Shot & Multi view found in professional DSLRs.
 
For connectivity, Icon offers - 3G, Wi-Fi, Micro-USB, and Bluetooth.  The device comes with a 2500 mAh Li-Pol battery which allows up to 20 hours of talk time on 2G and up to 9 hours of talk time on 3G. It comes with 16GB internal storage that is further expandable up to 32GB using a microSD card. The device is 7.7mm thick.
 
With Lava’s Star OS built on Android platform, users can add a variety of customizable gesture controls like the drawing shortcuts function. The user may draw certain letters on the display in sleep mode and link these to launch various tasks within the device.
