Realme launches U1 at Rs 14,499, first phone in India to be powered by new Mediatek Hello P70 processor

Realme is one of the new brands that has gained immense popularity among the consumer. After the success of Realme 2 Pro, the company today launched its first phone in a new 'U' range - Realme U1.

The Realme U1 is the first phone in India to be powered by the new Mediatek Hello P70 processor. The Helio P70 offers better thermal performance and improved AI features. It will come in two storage variants - 3GB RAM with 32GB storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage. It comes with a 3,500mAh battery, rear fingerprint scanner, dual SIM slot and has a dedicated microSD slot for storage expansion.

The phone has a 6.3-inch 19:9 aspect FHD display with the dewdrop style notch first seen on the Realme 2 Pro. On the software front it runs Android 8.1 with various system optimization, face unlock and a gaming mode.

Camera is a big focus for the new U series. The U1 features a 25MP front camera with f2.0 aperture and 1.8um pixel size for Selfie lovers. It comes with AI facial detection, Hybrid HDR, group Selfie and selfie bokeh effect. The phone also has an AI Beauty+ mode which has been made especially for Indian users. On the rear, the Realme U1 has a 13MP + 2MP dual camera setup with portrait lighting, bokeh and super vivid mode. It is also capable of 90fps slow motion video recording.

The phone is priced at Rs 11,999 for the 3GB variant while the one with 4GB RAM will be priced at Rs 14,499. It will be available in three colours - black, blue and gold. The phone will go on sale exclusively on Amazon India from 5th December 2018.

Also announced at the event were Realme accessories including back covers (Rs 499) and Realme buds earphones (Rs 499).
