Alcatel-Lucent and Oracle are fighting t out against each other over alleged patent infringement disputes. While Oracle filed documents over the dispute last week before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California following its first suit filed on May 7, alleged violator Alcatel-Lucent too has filed similar patent infringement charges against Oracle.
The issue dates back to December 2007 when Alcatel-Lucent had sent a letter to Oracle CEO, Larry Ellison wherein the company had alleged that Oracle''s database product Data Guard, Times Ten and Data Mining options in addition to Oracle's Email Center and Siebel CRM Call Center On Demand products violated Alcatel-Lucent's patent rights.
Oracle replied back claiming that patents filed by Alcatel-Lucent are invalid and unenforceable reasoning that individuals involved with the patent approval process withheld "information material to patentability" from the U.S. Patent Office "with the intent to deceive."
Oracle has sought monetary compensation over the allegations filed by Alcatel-Lucent. |
