ZTE plans tie-ups with operators for handsets in India

Upbeat on its success in the Chinese 3G handset market, ZTE is now planning to have tie-ups with Indian operators to market its range of mobile handsets in the country.

 

The company initially aims to focus on low-cost handsets in India and aims to launch such a range by year-end. The company executive vice-president He Shiyou said that it is banking on volumes to drive growth in the country.

 

The company already has tie-ups with leading CDMA operators in the country. As per the company it had shipped it had shipped 10 million handsets in India in 2007 and expects the figure to reach 15 million in 2008.
