Motorola Inc., a mobile phone manufacturer and Taiwan''s Benq Corp. have won a patent case on Friday which was filed against the company over its text messaging software which was claimed to be owned by the University of Texas.

The University had sued more than 30 handset manufacturers claiming that the software these companies used for sending text messages infringe one of the university's patents.
