India’s leading VAS player, OnMobile is all set to launch search services on mobiles. The company already offers voice-based music search services named MSearch to the mobile subscribers. It now wants to extend this service to include general search services as well.
Arvind Rao founder and CEO of OnMobile says that its MSearch services in tie-up with Vodafone registers 1.5 million searches daily.
The general search services on mobiles should do well in the country, which has a mobile subscriber base that is many times higher than the internet subscriber base. With this foray, observers say the company is making an attempt to replicate Google’s success on the mobile platform.
But the success of the services will also depend on penetration level of mobile internet services which is expected to surge only after the introduction of 3G services in the country. |
