A federal court said that Qualcomm Corp. was in contempt of court for violating an injunction against using products that infringed on intellectual property developed by Broadcom Corp.
U.S. District Judge James Selna in Santa Ana ruled that San Diego-based Qualcomm violated the injunction by continuing to use infringing chips and ordered it to stop the infringement, Broadcom said.
Further, Qualcomm was prosecuted for failing to pay royalties for an infringed product and therefore Qualcomm was ordered to pay further profits to Broadcom.
According to the 2007 jury verdict, Qualcomm was found infringing three Broadcom patents, including one for ‘push-to-talk’ technology used for the QChat features of Sprint Nextel Corp.''s mobile phones and two others for video encoding and wireless Internet. |
