Govt says successfully able to track BlackBerry data now
TT Correspondent |  New Delhi |  22 Sep 2008

The DoT along with the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO) has reportedly carried out tests to track and monitor BlackBerry data. The tests were conducted on subscribers of leading service providers subscribing to BlackBerry services like Airtel, BPL Mobile, Reliance Communications, and Vodafone.

The tests, as per the reports, not only tested communication between BlackBerry-to-BlackBerry devices but also between BlackBerry to other devices. There were some difficulties faced in cracking the code of Vodafone subscribers but even that is reported to be taken care off now.

Reports say that the DoT will not share the solution with any of the service providers including the two PSUs, BSNL and MTNL.
