  Bharti Airtel Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd today announced the launch of its mobile services in the Sri Lankan market claiming to redefine affordability in the island nation by offering attractive call-rates to the country’s mobile subscribers,
Airtel says that it has introduced the concept of uniform calling which will allow subscribers to call at economical rates irrespective of network to be called i.e.Intra network or intern network calls.

The company has bagged licences to offer 3G as well as 2G services in Sri Lanka. The firm ahs also earmarked $ 200 million investment for Sri Lankan operations. Huawei is providing the network solutions to Airtel while IBM is taking care of the IT responsibilities and iSmart Timex will serve up as customer care partner.
Airtel’s competitors in the market include Telekom Malaysia-owned Dialog Telecom which is the largest operator in Sri Lanka, Celltel Lanka, Hutchison and Sri Lankan government-owned Mobitel. |
