TT Bureau |  |  15 Jan 2009

Apple CEO Steve Jobs, in a letter addressed to employees said that he is taking break from the company for a period of 6 months on health grounds. The CEO said that his health issues are complicated than he actually thought.

"In order to take myself out of the limelight and focus on my health... I have decided to take a medical leave of absence until the end of June. As CEO, I plan to remain involved in major strategic decisions while I am out. Our board of directors fully supports this plan,” said Steve Jobs.

The CEO is reported to be suffering due to hormone imbalance causing deprivation of proteins in the body.

While the company’s shares dropped on the development, Steve Jobs will be replaced by Chief operating officer Tim Cook for the time period.
