VSNL acquired a stake in Africa’s cable consortium group Eassy which is expected to be 10,000 km long and will link more than 20 African countries with the rest of the world at a cost of $ 235 million.

"VSNL are a big company with operations worldwide and obviously they want capacity for their own and capacity to sell as well, that''s why they are in Eassy," said Sammy Kirui, the consortium Chairman.
