The Wireless-TT Infoservices Limited (WTTIL), the tower arm of Tata Teleservices Limited, and Quippo Telecom Infrastructure Limited (QTIL), announced bagging tower infrastructure sharing order from new entrant Unitech Wireless.
The deal will involve the combine leasing their infrastructure to Unitech for the latter’s soon to be launched GSM mobile services as per its plans by mid 2009. The deal is also part of Unitech’s partnership with Norway’s Telenor which requires Unitech to spell out the network rollout plans.
“The deal marks an important milestone in the rollout, as it will considerably shorten the time to market for Unitech Wireless. We look forward to a long and mutually rewarding relationship with Quippo, WTTIL and TTSL,” Sanjay Chandra, Chairman of Unitech Wireless, said.
“The deal is of strategic importance and value-enhancing for all stakeholders—particularly so since WTTIL now stands for the proven expertise of infrastructure management and operational capabilities of Quippo, with the committed support of TTSL,” said Anil Sardana, Managing Director of Tata Teleservices Limited.
“This partnership is a reaffirmation of the strategic alliance between Quippo and Tata Teleservices Limited, which we announced last month,” said Arun Kapur, Managing Director of Quippo Telecom.
Last month, TTSL had merged its tower infrastructure arm with Quippo primarily to target new entrants who are keenly looking for infrastructure business propositions for faster network rollout. |
