AricentTM said that it has successfully jointly developed a new mobile banking application for Pocit which is a subsidiary of IT firm, Tradebridge which in turn is backed by Capitec Bank.
The application developed allows users with credit cards or bank accounts to make payments directly from the mobile application via a cell phone without having to know the recipient’s specific banking details. Registered users with Pocit can receive, send, request as well as store money. Some other instances of applications possible include a service enabling parents to send money to children at Universities in other towns and also a Pocit Elect service allowing the use of cell phones for fund raising by political parties.
Aricent says the application was developed on an open source framework J4ME.
“Mobilizing Pocit’s secure, innovative banking application across hundreds of legacy and newly released phones presented a number of technical hurdles. For example, we had to optimize the processing and memory limitations of older devices while maximizing the features of new devices such as touch screens,” said Elsje de Wit, Managing Director of Aricent South Africa. “Banking and mobile networking are a natural fit, and we are very pleased to have co-created this compelling application with Pocit.” |
