Verizon Communications Inc. has announced the appointment of John Killian, the current president of Verizon Business as the executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Killian will succeed Doreen Toben who last week had said he will retire from the office around the middle of this year. The appointment will be effective March 1, 2009.
