Wireless broadband provider Clearwire Corporation on Monday announced the appointment of William Morrow as its Chief Executive Officer, replacing Benjamin Wolff, who will continue the office as the co-chairman of the company.
Wolff will be seen sharing the new role with Clearwire’s founder and Chairman Craig McCaw.
Besides, Woff will remain onboard as the president of McCaw''s investment firm Eagle River, and will be vested with the responsibility of focusing on Clearwire’s strategic and financing opportunities.
Referring to Wolff’s new role, John Stanton, a director on Clearwire's board said that the company has a good amount of capital but will continue to seek opportunities to multiply its capital base to have a consistently growing business.
Morrow, who has worked as CEO of Pacific Gas & Electric, has had a long working experience in the wireless business that includes stints as CEO of Vodafone Europe and chief of Vodafone KK in Japan.
Clearwire, which is owned 51 percent by Sprint, is setting up a high-speed WiMAX based network. |
