TT Bureau |  |  14 May 2009

China Mobile has floated a tender for setting up of 108,000 WLAN access points. The mentioned project is part of its TD-SCDMA plus WLAN project.

The move follows the country revoking the ban on trading off mobile terminals with WLAN compatibility. The country however is mainly banking on its home-grown WAPI (WLAN Authentication and Privacy Infrastructure) standard.
