NComputing today announced an alliance with Haier Computer Group with an aim to market low cost large scale computing solutions priced at about $ 150 to government agencies and educational institutions in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
“NComputing’s mission is to bring computing to the next billion people around the world who are ready, but simply cannot afford it with traditional computers,” said Stephen Dukker, chairman and CEO of NComputing. “NComputing virtual desktops have broken the cost barrier and by partnering with Haier, we will be able to bring the technology to millions of students and citizens around the world.”
To begin with, the tie-up will target 18 countries in Africa, Europe, Asia and Latin America addressing over 1.5 million work stations with gradually expanding to other countries.
“Government leaders in emerging market nations recognize that computer skills are critical if they want their citizens and workers to prosper in the 21st century economy,” said Mr. Gao Yi-cheng, General Manager, Haier Computers. “By combining our cost advantage in PCs and monitors with NComputing award-winning virtual desktops, we will be able to offer governments an extremely cost-effective and sustainable solution that is unmatchable.” |
