GSM companies record dip in growth rate for monthly subscriber additions

The Indian GSM operators recorded 8.3 million additions in May as compared to 8.97 million in April and 10.8 million in March. At the end of May, India’s GSM mobile subscriber base reached 306.45 million.

Airtel registered additions of 2.8 million new subscribers in the month while BSNL managed only 4.5 lakh additions. Vodafone managed 2.5 million additions. Idea and Aircel witnessed additions of around one million. MTNL added 38,036 subscribers.
