Global IP Solutions (GIPS) said Monday that Honk Kong’s telecom major, PCCW, has adopted GIPS VideoEngine technology to support its new PC softphone, 0060 Everywhere.

With this, the more than one million retail and business subscribers of PCCW can access the best voice and video quality calls, said the company.

“It is imperative for PCCW to provide our customers with a superior level of quality for both voice and video in our 0060 Everywhere application,” said Dr. Allen Wong, PCCW Director of Product Development & Management (Consumer Group).

PCCW made the choice of implementing GIPS VideoEngine after it trialed run several   alternative solutions.

“GIPS media processing technology and the technical support provided by them were clearly superior to the other offerings we considered and enable us to design a product targeting the needs of our discerning customers,” added Dr. Allen Wong.
