After a north bound track pertaining to performance for network congestion as witnessed in the last few quarters, Indian operators have performed comparatively badly during the Jan-March 2009 quarter.
When compared to December 2008, the Point of Congestion (POIs) have increased to 76 from 66 in December. Of these 33 POIs have congestion levels more than 5 %. For December, this figure was 37 out of total of 66.
POIs with more than 10 % congestion levels are 18 in March as compared to 27 in December. Most alarmingly the number for POIs with congestion level more than 40 % in March rose to 6 when compared to such POIs in December.
PSUs BSNL and MTNL however improved their performance during the March quarter with their combined POIs decreasing to 27 as compared to 35 in December.
Private operators have fallen back on their deliverables as their POIs stands increased from 31 in December to 49 in March.
Worst performers among the private operators included Reliance Telecom and Idea with 18 POIs performing badly followed by Reliance Communications with 16 POIs and Vodafone with 11 POIs.
Circle-wise Bihar performed badly with 13 POIs followed by 8 each in Andhra Pradesh and Kolkata while Assam and Himachal Pradesh had 7 POIs performing badly. |
