Alcatel-Lucent gears to slash 1,000 jobs in France in 2009-10
TT Bureau |  |  10 Jul 2009

Telecommunication equipment maker Alcatel-Lucent is gearing up for another round of layoffs this 2009 and 2010, reports the Wall Street Journal.

The Franco-American Company will cut over 1,000 jobs in France, and the cuts are expected to affect several units, particularly administrative and sales positions and some industrial activities.

The move is in line with a transformation program launched by Alcatel-Lucent six months ago, to improve its financial status and rationalize its product line.

Additionally, more regional job-cut announcements are also expected to be made.
