Ruckus Wireless introduced what it claims to be world’s first outdoor dual-band 802.11n and single-band 802.11g Wi-Fi access points with dynamic beamforming. The company says that the new product aims to address the problems such as interference, unanticipated physical obstructions such as foliage, network management complexity and cost associated with outdoor Wi-Fi deployments.
Ruckus claims that the new products deliver higher speeds as compared to other competing Wi-Fi products for outdoor deployments. And this is achieved with a two to four-fold increase in signal range an reliability, adds the firm.
Some of the scenarios where the product can be used include outdoor Wi-Fi deployments, extending wireless LAN to outdoor areas, delivering Wi-Fi services to dense user communities and for improving mobile user experience by offloading data traffic from increasingly congested 3G networks.
