Airtel Lanka clocks one mn subscribers

Bharti Airtel’s Sri Lanka subsidiary announced reaching subscriber base of one million in the island nation

 

"We are pleasantly surprised that we have achieved 1 million customers in Sri Lanka in a record 171 days and would always make available the latest technology in the sector," Deputy CEO of Bharti Airtel Sanjay Kapoor.

 

The company had initially phase opposition from incumbent operators in Sri Lanka on the issue of interconnection charge.

 

It launched its services in early part of this year. It now plans to extend its services to the areas earlier controlled by LTTE including in Wanni.
