Telecom PSU, BSNL among others seen defaulting on tax

India’s top 100 tax defaulters account for as much as Rs 1.41 lakh crore with the offenders including names such as Oracle, Nokia, Tata Communications.

 

Ironically for the government, its unit BSNL is also seen defaulting on tax payments.

 

BSNL’s outstanding tax amount is Rs 2,417 crore while Tata Communications owes Rs 505.5 crore. Oracle owes Rs 558 crore, Nokia owes Rs 448 crore and IBM Rs 208 crore.

 

The figures were released in the Rajya Sabha.
