Nokia on Tuesday said that its email service, Ovi Mail has registered more than 1 million subscribers since its inception in December last year.
Ovi Mail, a service that provides email access for mobile devices without the need to setup the account on a personal computer, has seen active take ups in the developing countries, where the Finnish company holds the dominant market share.
Nokia said that its top five markets for Ovi Mail include India, Indonesia, Mexico, Russia and South Africa.
Ovi Mail is free is currently available in more than 180 countries and supports 20 languages.
The mobile email was first introduced by Research in Motion and the company continues to remain the No.1, putting a stop to Nokia’s endeavors of pushing through the market over the years. RIM had 28.5 million subscribers at the end of May. |
