Loop Mobile announced the appointment of ex-XCEL employee, Sandip Basu as the company’s new CEO. This means the departure of current CEO Sanjeev Chachondia.
The development also marks Sandip’s second stint with the organisation as he had worked with the BPL Mobile Group from 1997 to 2005 with his last designation at the Group as MD and CEO.
His other popular stints in a career spanning more than 25 years include with Fascel Ltd, Bharti Telecom as well as Apollo Tyres.
He is a qualified CA and a commerce graduate from Delhi University.
For Loop Mobile which has soft launched its services Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Orissa, the development results in company having a second CEO even as it prepares for launch of the services across the country.
While the company has launched its services on paper in Tamil Nadu and Orissa way back in May, it is yet to register any subscribers in these circles as per TRAI figures. The launch is perceived by many to be an eye-washer to meet the roll-out obligations on paper.
Moreover the ownership issue is also haunting the firm with allegations that the service provider is indirectly owned by the Essar’s Ruias. MCA is already investing these allegations.
Last year Ravi Sharma had quit Datacom when it was found that the firm was embroiled over management control issues between the Dhoots and the Nahatas. Professional Executives find it very difficult to work under such atmosphere of lack of clarity.
