HTC not to foray into services atleast till 2010
TT Correspondent |  New Delhi |  08 Sep 2009

It maybe a global trend now where handset manufacturers are not only focusing on revenues from handset sales but also have an eye on the revenues from VAS. Nokia has done it and Sony Ericcosn, Motorola and Apple’s iPhone are reaping the benefits.

But for Taiwan-based HTC, the focus now is to consolidate its position in the smartphone segment. It has no plans to foray into the services segment.

“These days everyone is doing it and it is a good development as there is no denial about the growing importance of application services. But we, instead of drawing a timeline would like to come up with something solid and I don’t see that happening before 2010,” said HTC India Country Head, Anand Sharma to TelecomTiger.
