BSNL eyeing majority stake in Zain consortium
TT Bureau |  |  06 Oct 2009

BSNL CMD Kuldeep Goyal said that the firm is interested in acquiring majority stake in the consortium which has acquired 46 % stake in Kuwait’s Zain.

“We have started the process of negotiations for acquisition of a controlling stake in Zain,” said the CMD.

“If the Department of Telecom feels that it (the deal) is detrimental to the two public sector units, only then will it seek a clarification from them,” said Minister A Raja on a query about whether the PSU will receive relevant approvals from the Ministries.
