BOLT mobile browser comes out of beta shell; new even faster version launched
TT Bureau |  |  07 Oct 2009

Bitstream Inc. developed mobile web browser, BOLT today launched its new version 1.5 browser with the firm claiming that this version marks the coming out of BOLT under the beta mode. BOLT always claims that its browser is 25 to 50 % faster than the competing browsers available in the market.

BOLT promises that the new version which is again based on J2ME will enable to view full web pages similar as that in case of desktop terminals.

Advanced features supported by the browser include streaming videos from video websites, copy and paste, upload files, photos and videos to websites. For BlackBerry users it includes default BlackBerry shortcuts and optimizations.

“Eight months ago at Mobile World Congress when we first made BOLT available, we had no set date for when we would emerge from beta,” said Anna Chagnon, president and CEO of Bitstream.  “We were focused on one mission: building the most capable Web browser that could transform virtually any mobile device into a practical Internet tool.  We owe a big debt of gratitude to the loyal BOLT end users who provided invaluable feedback and helped us build for them and others what we believe to be a truly important mobile application.”

The new BOLT 1.5 includes all the features in previous beta versions plus important new features and service enhancements to improve reliability, usability and speed.
