Twitter founders had once acknowledged that while the traffic and subscriber base for the services is huge they had no clear idea on how to convert those into revenues. It appears that they have precisely managed to address this concern as popular social networking medium today forged a tie-up with India’s leading service provider, Bharti Airtel.
The deal allows subscribers of Airtel to Tweet over the SMS channel. Twitter service in India was till now accessible from mobile either through the web or the WAP portal. The new deal also allows users to sign to the service through SMSes.
Users can send Tweets in the form of SMSes to 53000 or send SMS directly to the other Twitter user. Users will also be able to access links send over the SMS.
