RCom’s preliminary review of Auditor’s report refutes all findings
TT Correspondent |  Mumbai |  26 Oct 2009

Reliance Communications claimed to have conducted its own preliminary review of th report submitted by Parekh & Co, the auditor appointed by DoT to investigate alleged overreporting of revenues of telcos.

RCom says that it was provided the report by the Auditor only on October 14, 2009, a week after the report was presented to DoT and its findings leaked to the media.

“The findings are baseless, unsupported and contrary to the facts,” said RCom in a statement. “The Special Auditor’s report estimating alleged additional liability of Rs. 316 crore is incorrect, hopelessly biased, one-sided and prejudiced.  The Special Auditor’s report is in fact in conflict with industry practice and judgements of TDSAT, CESTAT, etc. on several issues,” added the statement.

“Importantly, the Special Auditors have themselves stated that “generally, the Company is complying with the requirements for preparation of Annual Financial Statements,” said RCom.
