TT Correspondent |  Mumbai |  04 Nov 2009

India’s leading GPS player, MapmyIndia entered into an alliance with Department of Science & Technology’s Survey of India bolstering MapmyIndia’s reach within the government and defence organizations.

MapmyIndia aims to provide VAS on Survey of India maps.

On this occasion, Rakesh Verma, MD, MapmyIndia says: “Our alliance with Survey of India validates the perception of MapmyIndia as one of the premier digital mapping agencies in India. This alliance also allows us to bring our years of experience in building high quality maps for leading private firms to service the government and defence sectors. The symbiotic nature of the association, where MapmyIndia can use Survey of India maps to provide value added services and vice versa is a huge step forward for the navigation and GIS industries in India.”

Lauding MapmyIndia’s efforts in the navigation and LBS space, the Surveyor General of India comments, “I am confident that MapmyIndia will meet the wider expectations of the Indian society and GIS users through provision of cost-effective, user friendly, timely and accurate info to them and prove themselves to be the pioneer and trend setter in their specialized field through use of innovative techniques and technologies for their salient benefits.”

Survey of India had similarly entered into a deal with SatNav Technologies earlier this year.
