Singapore-based mobile handset player, Mobell Technology tied up with Salora International to tap the Indian market with the company launching 7 models on the occasion and six more models in pipeline by January. Salora will oversee sales and distribution of the handsets in India.
"India is a very significant market for us and presents a huge opportunity for us to tap. We will bring handsets designed for Indian needs and localisation will be an important factor for us," says, Mobell Managing Director Arthur Tan.
"In the first year, the focus will be more on building the brand than on sales. In the next 3-5 years, we would like to see Mobell among the top 10 players in India," adds Salora International Managing Director Gopal Jiwarajka.
The 7 models launched are priced between Rs 2,000-Rs 7,000. For the moment the tie-up aims to cover North and East India. But by June the handsets will be available across India. Salora plans to increase its service centres from present level of 175 to 500 by next year. |
